In a past appearance on YouTube channel Pinggaego, Han Ji-min opened up about her shy school days, recalling, “I couldn’t make friends easily and had a quiet personality. Then, in the fifth grade, I had a very outgoing homeroom teacher who became my role model. I tried to become a bit more extroverted after that.”
She admitted that even during the filming of All In, she was so reserved that when Lee Byung-hun passed by, she remained silent. “At the time, the director wondered how someone like me ended up acting,” she said. “But after I met Lee Seo-jin, I changed. He’s the person who transformed me.”
Han Ji-min explained that her 20s and 30s were completely different, thanks in part to her time at BH Entertainment, where she made her first real friends in the industry. Host Yoo Jae-suk agreed, saying, “The Han Ji-min from back then and the Han Ji-min now are totally different. You barely spoke before.”
She then shared a lighthearted memory involving Lee Seo-jin. “One day, he texted me out of the blue, asking if I wanted to eat sushi. We took a taxi to the restaurant, and he said he’d called me because he remembered how I ate golden tilefish down to the bones last time.”
The dinner came with a twist. “He mentioned one of his juniors would join us, and told me not to mind it. That junior turned out to be the one treating us! They joined us and paid for everything.”
Han Ji-min wrapped up the story with a playful confession: “I always say that if I were to be born again, I’d want to be Lee Seo-jin. He has no worries and this ‘I don’t care’ mindset about everything. I even wonder if he ever feels stressed. What you see on TV is exactly what he’s like in real life.”
Her warm yet humorous remarks left fans amused, with many commenting that the easygoing friendship between Han Ji-min and Lee Seo-jin mirrors the natural chemistry they’ve shown on screen. And while her wish to be “born as Lee Seo-jin” was said in jest, it’s clear that the respect and influence he’s had on her life are anything but a joke.
