Broadcaster Ham So Won released an explanation 6 hours after announcing that she would divorce her 18-year-younger husband Jin Hwa.
Ham So Won proved her good relationship with Jin Hwa through an Instagram live broadcast on April 3rd.
Ham So Won said, “I had been going back and forth between Korea and Vietnam so I was a little out of my mind”, adding “I was helping Jin Hwa with a broadcast in China, but I heard articles about our divorce came out in Korea so I stopped for a while and came here to calm everyone down.”
Earlier on the same day, Ham So Won announced the divorce news herself on her YouTube channel. In the video, she included a handwritten letter, saying “My family and I are all very exhausted. We can’t take it anymore. We’re getting a divorce. Please let me divorce. I begged with my husband and my in-laws.”
Revealing that the number of malicious comments towards her increased after she appeared on TV Chosun’s program “Wife’s Taste”, Ham So Won said, “I think the best way to repay my husband’s love and show my final respect to him is to get a divorce and allow him to meet someone of his age and from a good family.”
She continued, “I wanted to get divorced, give up everything, including my career as a celebrity, and just live like that. After going through a tough time that made me feel like dying, I finally regained my sanity”. Ham So Won added, “I’ll sue all of you and help poor kids with the settlement money I receive”, delivering her warning to malicious commenters.
After the news of her divorce began to spread on various SNS sites and online communities, Ham So Won eventually realized that something was wrong.
During the recent live broadcast, Ham So Won even boasted about her husband Jin Hwa. She also hinted that she had received many casting offers for movies and variety shows in China.
She said, “We don’t always get along, but you can relax. I will upload videos of Hye Jeong (their daughter) when we go to Vietnam. Don’t worry.”
Meanwhile, Ham So Won married Jin Hwa in 2017 and they had a daughter named Hye Jeong.
