Haha confesses, “When my youngest daughter was diagnosed with the rare Guillain-Barré syndrome, my every day was like hell”

Singer-broadcaster Haha opened up about his feelings when seeing his youngest daughter Ha Song fight Guillain-Barré syndrome.

During the show, the production team asked Haha for his thoughts on appearing on a family entertainment program. In response, Haha said, “We received a lot of offers, but we didn’t have the courage to show up on TV programs at that time. A big thing happened to my family in 2022. It was so hard… and I felt like I had lost the world.”

Earlier, Haha’s wife Byul revealed that their youngest daughter Ha Song suffered from Guillain-Barré syndrome.

Explaining the situation at that time, Byul said, “I’m still very cautious when talking about this because I’m afraid that our short struggle will be seen as a noisy thing to families who have been fighting illnesses or taking care of sick members for longer periods.”

She continued, “Song was a healthy and lively kid, but one day she suddenly complained of having a stomachache. We wondered if it was enteritis, but she didn’t have a fever. We still didn’t think she could have another illness even when her pain got so bad that she kept rolling around”. Haha added, “We didn’t even know that there is such a syndrome.”

Byul confessed, “Later, her walking steps started to look weird. When she could no longer walk strongly, Song was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome. I had never heard of it before. Out of confusion, I wondered, ‘Does it make sense? It suddenly happens one day…’”

In addition, Haha said, “You know I have to do entertainment shows, right? The situation at home was like that, I felt like losing the whole world and the meaning of living but still had to look funny on the screen. My every day was like hell. I couldn’t laugh, but I had to make other people laugh. It was so difficult that my heart kept pounding and I couldn’t stand still.”
