Grammys 2024 nomination: No Kpop representatives, Taylor Swift not most nominated?

The nominations for the 2024 Grammys have been announced, but no Kpop representatives made the list

At 1AM on November 11 (KST), the 66th Grammy Music Awards unveiled its nomination list filled with strong contenders. Surprisingly, despite releasing her 10th album “Midnights” this year and proving her global impact, Taylor Swift was not the name with the most nominations.

Nevertheless, the female pop icon made her appearance in the nominations in 3 most important sectors: “Record of the Year”, “Album of the Year”, and “Song of the Year”. Taylor’s close friend slash music producer, Jack Antonoff, also secured 6 nominations.

Meanwhile, with 9 nominations, SZA is the most nominated artist. With her explosive album “SOS”, SZA has received praise from both critics and the general public, and so becomes Taylor’s direct competitor for “Record of the Year”, “Album of the Year”, and “Song of the Year”.

Other famous names like Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, and Olivia Rodrigo, also got for themselves 6 nominations each.

Notably, the 2024 Grammys is completely empty of Kpop representations. It is known that various Kpop artists, from BTS members like Jungkook, V, and Jimin, to groups like BLACKPINK, TWICE, SEVENTEEN, aespa, etc, all submitted for Grammy consideration this year, but failed to make the final short list.

Previously from 2020 to 2022, BTS was nominated, making them the only Kpop artist to receive 3 nominations 3 years in a row
