On April 14, Gong Seung Yeon appeared on the YouTube web variety show Salon Drip alongside IU, Byeon Woo Seok, and Noh Sang Hyun, who are all starring in the MBC drama Perfect Crown. During the conversation, the topic turned to siblings, prompting Gong Seung Yeon to share a candid and unexpected story.
She admitted, “When I was younger, I used to hit my siblings a lot,” before recalling a particularly shocking incident. “I once hit my younger sister (Jeongyeon) in the car, and my dad suddenly stopped the car, opened the back door, and dragged me out. I had to walk home barefoot in the winter it was about three bus stops away,” she said.

She continued, “While walking home, I remember thinking, ‘I’m really not going to let Yoo Jeongyeon off easy.’” Her confession sparked laughter in the studio, resonating with many who could relate to sibling rivalries.
When asked how old she was at the time, Gong Seung Yeon surprised everyone by saying, “I was already grown up around 20.” The cast was even more shocked when she revealed the aftermath: “I apologized a lot afterward. The next day, my sister had to film her debut teaser, but because I hit her, her eye was swollen.”
As the cast reacted in disbelief, she added, “Just thinking about it is scary what if she couldn’t debut because of me,” expressing relief that it didn’t affect her sister’s career.

Gong Seung Yeon and Jeongyeon are well-known siblings in the entertainment industry, each thriving in their respective fields as an actress and an idol. Since her debut in 2012, Gong Seung Yeon has built a solid acting career through dramas such as Six Flying Dragons, Are You Human?, Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency, Bulgasal: Immortal Souls, and The First Responders, as well as the Netflix series Karma.
She is currently gaining attention for her role as Queen Dowager Yoon Yi-rang in Perfect Crown and is also set to appear in the upcoming tvN drama Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid, scheduled for release in 2027.
