“Hometown Cha Cha Cha” Gong Min-jung: “Shin Min-ah is very considerate, I’ve decided to be her fan forever”
Actor Gong Min-cha talked about her on-screen best friend in “Hometown Cha Cha Cha”, Shin Min-ah, during an interview.
tvN’s “Hometown Cha Cha Cha” is a tiki-taka healing romance that happened between realist dentist Yoon Hye-jin (by Shin Min-ah) and all-rounder unemployed Chief Hong (Kim Seon-ho) in Gongjin, a sea village. On the 17th of last month, the series ended with a high-profile rating of 12.665%. In the play, Gong Min-jung played the role of Yoon Hye-jin’s best friend and dental hygienist Pyo Mi-sun. She has drawn the viewers’ attention with how she portrays the lovely charm of her honest and bold character.
Recently, Expo News had done an interview with actor Gong Min-jung to ask about how she felt and behind-the-scenes stories between her and actor Shin Min-ah.
Q. How related do you feel to the character Pyo Mi-seon in the drama? How did you prepare your character?
Because I have to fit in both as Hye-jin’s best friend and as a resident of Gongjin, I think I’ve tried to live like that character. It took me a long time to find out what resembles Pyo Mi-seon the most. I thought it was more important how she regard Hye-jin as a real friend than anything else, and I accepted that aspect of her into my acting method. Shin Min-ah has helped me a lot.
Q. There are many viewers who adore the friendship between Yoon Hye-jin and Pyo Mi-sun. What is your relationship in real life?
“She’s a person I really like. Basically, I don’t think there was any difficulty in considering Hye-jin as my best friend because I really like Shin Min-ah. We’ve gotten really close during the filming process. I’ve decided to be her fan forever.”
Q. Is there any fun story during your filming process?
Shin Min-ah was the best. During the shoot, she completely became my best friend Hyejin and my real friend as well. Even our comedy code worked well, so we shared jokes from time to time and we laughed a lot. I learned a lot from her. I was very surprised. I still miss her jokes. She’s a very sensible, warm and considerate person. She has never done anything half-heartedly, she always thinks and prepares a lot beforehand. Of course, she has also prepared a lot of jokes. But I think that was her sister’s effort to be a real friend with Mi-sun. I have laughed a lot. Every scene with her is vivid and unforgettable to me. I think the reason was that we really see each other as friends. It’s all thanks to her. Shin Min-ah made it all for me.
