Before becoming one of Korea’s most in-demand actresses, Go Youn Jung first caught the public’s eye not on screen, but on the cover of a university magazine.

Now in her sixth year as an actress, Go Youn Jung recently revealed the unexpected story of how her career began — one that started when she was just a college art student.

Having shown talent in drawing since middle school, Go pursued fine arts at university, never imagining herself in the entertainment industry. But everything changed when, at the suggestion of a senior, she applied to appear in the popular student magazine University Tomorrow. Soon after submitting her application, she was contacted and selected as a cover model.

The attention came instantly. “After the issue was published, I heard that agencies began calling my department office,” she recalled. “My contact information wasn’t public, so the calls went through my school. I had never thought about becoming an actress, so I politely declined.”

She went on to add with a smile, “I even asked the department office not to give out my phone number — but one person managed to reach me. That person is now my agency CEO.”

After taking about six months of acting lessons, Go Youn Jung found her true calling and decided to pursue acting seriously.

Born in 1996, she made her official debut in 2019 through the He Is Psychometric, where she immediately drew praise for her natural acting and striking visuals. Since then, she has built an impressive filmography with projects such as The School Nurse Files, Sweet Home, Alchemy of Souls, Moving, Death’s Game, Resident Playbook, and the film Hunt.

What started as a one-time magazine appearance led to a flourishing acting career. Today, Go Youn Jung is admired not only for her beauty but also for her depth as an actress and her ability to embody complex characters with authenticity and charm.

With each new role, she continues to captivate audiences and solidify her position as one of the brightest stars of her generation.
