Actress Go Youn Jung is once again at the center of online discussion as her new drama We Are All Trying Here officially premieres, bringing renewed attention to her on-screen pairing with Koo Kyo Hwan.

The drama, which recently aired its first episode, had already generated buzz for uniting two highly respected actors. However, following its premiere, conversations among viewers have increasingly focused on the noticeable age difference between the leads.
This is not the first time Go Youn Jung has faced such scrutiny. In her previous drama Can This Love Be Translated?, she starred alongside Kim Seon Ho, who is about a decade older than her. In this latest project, the gap is even wider, with Koo Kyo Hwan being approximately 14 years her senior.

The issue has drawn more attention due to the drama’s premise. Koo Kyo Hwan portrays an unemployed middle-aged man, while Go Youn Jung takes on the role of a sharp and capable producer. For some viewers, this contrast has amplified concerns about imbalance in character dynamics.
While many audiences remain focused on the performances and storytelling, others have raised questions about recurring casting patterns in the industry. Critics argue that younger actresses are frequently paired with significantly older male leads, while the reverse scenario – older women with younger male counterparts – rarely appears in mainstream dramas.

Online reactions have been divided. Some viewers see the pairing as a natural collaboration between skilled actors, while others believe such portrayals may subtly influence societal perceptions of relationships and age dynamics.
With the drama now on air, the conversation continues to grow, reflecting changing audience expectations and increasing awareness of representation in K-drama casting.
