According to MyDaily on January 13, Go Min Si has confirmed her appearance in the upcoming movie and is preparing for her first shoot. Her agency, Mystic Story (Mystic Actors), responded cautiously, stating that the matter is “currently being confirmed,” but industry insiders indicate that production preparations are already underway.

“Moral Family” tells the story of a deeply fractured and morally complex family. The narrative centers on a woman who has single-handedly supported her family for 13 years, surrounded by relatives struggling with addiction, financial instability, and identity conflicts. The tension escalates when the mother—who left the family 15 years prior—suddenly returns, triggering long-suppressed fractures within the household.

In the film, Go Min Si takes on the role of Kim Seon Ji, the family’s sole breadwinner. Her character is described as sharp, emotionally guarded, and outwardly cold, yet inwardly fragile and prone to tears—a layered role that demands both restraint and emotional depth.

Prior to this project, Go Min Si received praise for her supporting performance in last year’s critically acclaimed film “Owner of the World,” which was widely regarded as one of Korea’s standout films of the year.

Originally staged as a theater production in 2018, “Moral Family” garnered significant attention at the time after actor Jung Woo Sung reportedly covered the entire production cost. The play was produced by Kim Sun Young and received strong audience and critical response. The film adaptation will be directed by Lee Seung Won, known for “Three Sisters,” who is also Kim Sun Young’s husband.

Cast readings are scheduled for January 16, with full-scale filming set to begin next month.

Go Min Si rose to prominence through films like “The Witch: Part 1” and Netflix’s “Sweet Home,” later solidifying her status as a next-generation leading actress through works such as “Youth of May,” “Smugglers,” and “The Frog.”

However, her career momentum was disrupted last May when she became embroiled in school violence allegations. An anonymous post on an online community claimed that a middle school classmate had engaged in bullying, extortion, verbal abuse, and harassment of disabled students—allegations widely believed to reference Go Min Si.

Her agency immediately denied the claims, calling them “completely false” and announcing plans for legal action against malicious rumor-spreading. In August, Go Min Si personally addressed the controversy, acknowledging that she had been immature during her school years but firmly denying any involvement in school violence.

“I admit that I lived recklessly and immaturely as a student, but I can say with certainty that I never committed school violence,” she stated. “I have endured gossip and rumors, but I cannot accept being falsely accused simply because my past was imperfect.”

With “Moral Family,” Go Min Si now takes her first major step back into the spotlight. Industry observers are watching closely to see whether this project marks a full-fledged comeback—and how audiences will respond to her return.
