Yuri of Girls’ Generation is reportedly nearing the end of her long-standing exclusive contract with SM Entertainment. With her agreement set to expire next month, attention is focused on whether she will renew her contract or begin a new chapter with another agency.
According to a report on July 4, Yuri’s exclusive contract with SM Entertainment will expire next month, marking the end of a remarkable 25-year relationship that began during her trainee days. The singer and actress is currently weighing her options, including renewing with SM or signing with a new agency.

As Yuri has been actively balancing both her music and acting careers, she is reportedly also considering joining an agency that specializes in actor management. However, she is expected to continue activities with the Girls’ Generation unit formed alongside Hyoyeon and Sooyoung, known as “HyoRiSoo.” As a result, she is said to be carefully reviewing all possibilities before making a final decision regarding her future.
Yuri first joined SM Entertainment in 2001 after being selected as the “Best Dancer” in a youth talent competition. Following six years of training, she debuted as a member of Girls’ Generation in 2007. Since 2016, she has increasingly focused on acting, building a career across both television dramas and films.
As a member of Girls’ Generation, Yuri helped lead the global rise of K-pop through iconic hits including Into the New World, Gee, Genie, Oh!, The Boys, I Got a Boy, and Forever 1. As an actress, she has expanded her filmography with roles in dramas including Innocent Defendant, Good Job, Bossam: Steal the Fate, and Parole Examiner Lee.
