On this day, (G)I-DLE recalled the time when they had a hiatus of more than a year after former member Soojin’s withdrawal. Soyeon said, “In comic books and movies, there’s no case where one of the main characters is changed or disappears. I think it’s hard for a drama to do well if one of the main characters suddenly falls out. (We also) thought it might be hard for us to do well again.”

Minnie shared, “I think it was the hardest time since my debut. I was very anxious about whether I could go back to Korea. What I could do was work hard on incoming schedules. I was very lonely and had a hard time. I missed the members.”

Shuhua confessed, “At that time, I worked hard on vocals, exercise and dance. Like a trainee, I learned one by one and practiced so that I could grow more.” Miyeon said, “Since the members weren’t in Korea, Korean fans felt our absence. I thought, ‘What can I do to fill that vacancy?’ I tried to appear as much as I could.”

Yuqi recalled, “There was great pressure. I told the company that I won’t rest, I’ll do it. I was busy thinking. I missed the members so much. I had never carried out individual activities for that long.”

After reuniting with the members, Minnie confessed, “I felt reassured and stable when I came to Korea and got together with the members.” Miyeon said, “Since we were apart for a long time, it was so great just to be together.” Shuhua added, “I wanted to do group activities as soon as possible. I was afraid that fans would leave because we couldn’t meet them.”

Regarding the comeback with “TOMBOY” at that time, Soyeon said, “I thought, ‘I have to make it this time. I need to write the best song I can.’ It felt like our lives would be decided by this.”
