(G)I-DLE Not Reapplying For KBS Review Of “Wife”, “We’ll focus on promoting the title song”

On January 25th, CUBE Entertainment revealed the reason for the group’s decision to not reapply for song review through Xports News, saying “‘Wife’ is one of the b-side songs from their second full album, and it has nothing to do with the group’s broadcasting activities during this promotion”.

The agency continued, “(G)I-DLE will focus on the broadcasting activities for their title song ‘Super Lady’”.

According to the result of KBS’s review of songs for broadcasts on January 24th, (G)I-DLE’s “Wife” was classified as “unsuitable for broadcasts” due to its sexually provocative lyrics. Considering the title “Wife” of the song, various metaphorical lyrics have sexual nuances.

If the group wants to perform “Wife” on KBS broadcasts, they must revise the lyrics and reapply for review. However, CUBE confirmed that the song has nothing to do with (G)I-DLE’s comeback promotion because “Wife” is just a b-side track.

Composed and arranged by leader Jeon So-yeon, “Wife” is a pop track based on Bubblegum Bass and an impressive song with a unique yet sophisticated sound. Despite the unexpected controversy before the official comeback, (G)I-DLE still aroused huge popularity. Their second album “2 (TWO)” recorded 1.8 million album copies during the pre-order period, breaking their own record.

Meanwhile, (G)I-DLE will officially return to the K-pop race by releasing their new album at 6 p.m. on January 29th.
