On November 29, G-Dragon took the stage at the Kai Tak Stadium, performing “Drama,” “Heartbreaker,” and “Untitled, 2025.” Despite his star power and stage presence, his live vocals sparked heavy criticism. Viewers noted instability in his singing even during the ballad track and accused him of relying too much on pre-recorded audio (AR), questioning his professionalism.
Although G-Dragon walked away with four awards, including the grand prize (Daesang), his performance failed to meet expectations, intensifying the controversy. Seemingly aware of the criticism, G-Dragon left a thumbs-down emoji on his own performance video posted on the official awards account, a move interpreted as a form of self-deprecating acknowledgment.
Interestingly, he also “liked” a fan post defending him, which featured a direct cam (fancam) of the performance. The fan wrote, “This controversy is unfair, so I’m sharing a direct cam from the venue. I just wanted people to reconsider. Isn’t G-Dragon human too? He must have been under so much pressure, and there were unfortunate events in Hong Kong as well. Please fact-check before criticizing. G-Dragon did great, and I’m proud of him. No matter what anyone says, GD is GD. He did well live.”

Following the show, G-Dragon’s agency released a statement on December 1, explaining that he had originally prepared to perform “Drama” and “Heartbreaker” as planned. However, upon hearing about a tragic apartment fire in Hong Kong, he altered his performance last minute to include “Untitled, 2025.”
The agency emphasized that despite the limited time to adjust, G-Dragon delivered his performance with heartfelt sincerity, intending to console the citizens of Hong Kong and honor the victims. “His quiet but powerful sincerity left a lasting impression at the scene,” they added.

This is not the first time G-Dragon has faced criticism for his live singing. Similar controversies arose after his performance at the year-end SBS Gayo Daejeon last year and his solo concert in Goyang this March.
With an encore concert for his “Übermensch” world tour scheduled for December 14 at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, attention is now on whether G-Dragon can overcome the criticism and prove himself once again on stage.
