In a new episode of “Knee-Drop Guru”, released September 30 on Hana Bank’s YouTube channel Hana TV, the BIGBANG leader reunited with longtime host Kang Ho-dong for a heartfelt and humorous conversation titled G-DRAGON Forgets His Worries Chatting With Kang Ho-dong After 16 Years.”

During the episode, G-Dragon (real name Kwon Ji-yong) addressed how he views his younger self:

“When I watch old clips of myself, I seem so sensitive—it feels unfamiliar now. Fans used to say I was sharp or moody, and even gave me nicknames like ‘Kwon-Sapo’ and ‘Kwon-jiral.’”

(The nicknames are a play on his real name, poking fun at his sometimes prickly public persona.)

Kang Ho-dong then asked a deeper question:

“Do you ever feel lonely—as G-Dragon the celebrity, or Kwon Ji-yong the person?”

Without hesitation, G-Dragon replied:

“Both of them feel lonely—a lot. Even now, when this recording wraps up and I get in the car, I’ll probably feel it again. I think I’ve become more prone to loneliness because of my long time in the industry. You receive so much love—standing in front of tens of thousands at a concert—but then you walk into a hotel room, and it’s just… empty.”

His honest confession sheds light on the isolating side of fame, even for someone who has spent nearly two decades in the spotlight.
G-Dragon, once a symbol of K-pop’s cutting-edge cool, appears to be embracing a more introspective phase—looking back not only at who he was, but also at what years of stardom have meant for his personal life.
