Singer G‑DRAGON has revealed the story behind his performance at the 2025 MAMA Awards, explaining how he scrapped his planned stage setlist and chose “Untitled (無題)” to deliver a message of comfort and solidarity for Hong Kong citizens following a tragic fire.

At the November 29 event held at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Stadium, G‑DRAGON dressed all in black with a black ribbon chose silence and restraint over flashy spectacle, expressing a quiet tribute to the victims. Originally, he had planned to only perform tracks like “DRAMA” and “Heartbreaker,” but after hearing the news about the apartment fire in Tai Po’s Wang Fuk Court, he decided to change the setlist entirely. His decision was motivated by heartfelt respect for those affected; in addition, he made a donation of HK$1 million to the Support Fund for Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, showing tangible solidarity beyond words.
On stage with “Untitled (無題),” G‑DRAGON abandoned extravagant staging or performance gimmicks, focusing solely on conveying his sincere condolences and support. Despite the short preparation time, his calm and meaningful delivery resonated deeply with the audience, leaving a solemn but powerful impression.
The night was memorable for more reasons than the tribute: G‑DRAGON also swept four major awards Artist of the Year, Best Male Artist, Best Dance Performance (Male Solo), and FANS’ CHOICE Male Top 10. When he accepted the Artist of the Year trophy from veteran actor Chow Yun Fat, the moment carried extra weight: the same actor had presented Big Bang with awards a decade ago, making this a symbolic reunion. Chow Yun Fat even joked, “I’ve waited so long my hair turned white,” marking a touching moment in K‑pop history.

In his acceptance speech, G‑DRAGON said: “Given the sudden tragedy, I wanted to offer whatever strength I can to the people of Hong Kong who are grieving. Today is a joyful day, but also emotionally complex. Being recognized on Mnet’s 30th anniversary and receiving this honor from someone I respect as a lifelong idol like Chow Yun Fat means even more.” He also thanked fans for their unwavering support and promised: “Next year is Big Bang’s 20th anniversary. Then, I’ll come back not alone, but with my friends.”
Looking ahead, G‑DRAGON is gearing up for the Seoul encore performances of his 2025 world tour [Übermensch], scheduled from December 12 to 14 at Gocheok Sky Dome.
