From “Work Later, Drink Now” to “D.P.”, OTT dramas will return with Season 2. Will they be able to make bit hits again?

As many popular OTT dramas will return with Season 2, attention is focused on whether the new season can be loved as much as the previous one. 

First, TVing’s original series “Work Later, Drink Now 2” will premiere on December 9th. Season 1, which aired in October last year, tells the daily stories of three women whose belief in life is one drink at the end of the day. Portraying the friendship and unique personalities of the three best friends Ahn So Hee (Lee Sun Bin), Han Ji Yeon (Han Sun Hwa), and Kang Ji Goo (Jung Eun Ji), the drama became famous through word of mouth and received huge love from viewers.

Fans of “Work Later, Drink Now 2” are looking forward to seeing how the three friends, who have grown up through various events, from their refreshing first loves to unemployment, changing jobs, and even the passing of parents, transform with new images in Season 2.

Netflix’s “D.P.” has also finished filming Season 2. Released in August last year, “D.P.” depicts the story of Korean military police with their mission to catch deserters Jun Ho (Jung Hae In) and Ho Yeol (Koo Kyo Hwan) chasing people with various stories and facing the reality they did not know. This drama was highly praised for sharply reflecting the violence issue in the military environment through the story of the deserters.

In Season 2, new faces Yoo Soo Bin, Kim Ji Hyun and Jin Ji Hee will join the old main cast of Jung Hae In, Koo Kyo Hwan and Son Seok Goo. Actors Son Seok Goo and Jung Hae In announced on their personal SNS accounts that they had completed the filming for Season 2, raising fans’ expectations.

In the case of “Sweet Home”, they are producing Seasons 2 and 3 at the same time. Netflix’s “Sweet Home” is an Apocalyptic genre series about fictional creatures. It depicts the bizarre story that begins when high school student Hyun Soo leaves his home and moves into an apartment. Portraying the characters standing at the crossroads of survival, the drama increased viewers’ immersion by depicting various images of humans. In addition to Lee Jin Wook, Park Kyu Young, Song Kang and Go Min Si, who appeared in Season 1, Oh Jung Se, Kim Moo Yeol, Yoo Oh Sung, and Jin Young will join to play new characters. In particular, the production team also raised fans’ curiosity by revealing that Season 2 would be set in a new place.

Squid Game”, which created a global sensation, also confirmed the production of its second season. At the press conference to celebrate “Squid Game” winning the Emmy Awards in September, director Hwang Dong Hyuk said, “I’m currently writing the script for Season 2. I won’t let you down”. Attending the 27th Busan International Film Festival, Lee Byung Hun, who appeared in Season 1 as the Front Man, also shared, “We’ve decided to begin shooting ‘Squid Game 2’ next year”.
