From GD To Daesung, Yoo Jae-seok Paves The Way For Scandalous Acquaintances To Come Back

Many people are disappointed by Yoo Jae-seok’s action

On MBC’s program “Hangout With Yoo” hosted by Yoo Jae-seok, Daesung, a member of the group Big Bang, has appeared for two consecutive episodes.

In this program, Yoo Jae-seok became the representative of a made-up company called JS Entertainment and started recruiting members for a group himself. To find a main vocalist, Yoo Jae-seok met with Daesung for the first time in a long time. The MC even said he had not met Daesung for 7 years. This was a chance for the idol to prove his variety and singing skills.

Daesung was booked without detention in 2011 on charges that he hit a person while passing through the southern end of Yanghwa Bridge in Seoul on his own car. However, Daesung was cleared of charges at the time because the deceased first had an accident due to drunk driving and then a second accident with Daesung.

Of course, this is not entirely Daesung’s fault. However, Daesung was later embroiled in allegations that illegal entertainment businesses with female escorts were being arranged in a building in Gangnam which he purchased in 2017. In 2019, the police even detected specific circumstances of sex trafficking, but Daesung explained that tenants had already moved in and were operating at the time of the purchase, and that he was not properly aware of the illegal business types of the companies.

Daesung conveyed his intention to reflect on the controversy through an apology, and in conclusion, he was acquitted, but it would not have been easy for him to return to the entertainment industry.

Nevertheless, Daesung was able to grasp the opportunity to make a comeback by appearing on public television programs through his close senior Yoo Jae-seok, who has known him for more than a decade.

However, some pointedly criticized Yoo Jae-seok for trying to help his scandalous junior.

This is not the first time Yoo Jae-seok takes care of his juniors. In the past, through MBC’s “Infinite Challenge,” he was able to give G-Dragon a positive image to the public after the singer was accused with drug use charges in 2011.

As “Infinite Challenge” and “Hangout With Yoo” have different producers, it seems reasonable to believe that Yoo Jae-seok takes care of his juniors and the PDS are not to be blamed.

Since Yoo Jae-seok himself is a very influential figure leading the broadcasting industry, he must have a great desire to help his troubled juniors. However, the problem is that it might make the audience turn their back on the reputation that he has built up so far.
