On December 23, a topic titled “I’m RIIZE’s Seunghan’s friend” was published on the Korean forum Pann Nate, but was deleted shortly after.
The topic included a long heartfelt letter, when the alleged friend of RIIZE’s Seunghan expressed how the male idol was kind and friendly to most people, before asking for netizens to reconsider the allegations addressed at Seunghan and cease criticisms about the male idol.
The full content of the (now deleted) letter is as follows:
“Hello everyone, I am a friend of Seung Han, and I have been taking care of him since he was a trainee. I have thought a lot about the timing of writing this. However, I think it would be better to write it after some time has passed so that those who read this can assess the situation objectively, rather than in confusion amid various allegations (directed at Seunghan).
At school, Seunghan is an excellent student, very friendly with classmates, and the first to start a conversation even with the most introverted ones. He is an energetic and friendly person. Even though tired from training until late at night, he still plays with friends because of his passion for soccer. He is close to schoolmates, even though he has less time to meet them than peers, as he is always busy with training after school. Sometimes when he feels bored, he even draws a portrait for them (?). He is truly a good student and a naive child. Seunghan’s behavior erupted after he matured this year. Even I, as a friend, thought he should be more careful before debuting, instead of acting somewhat recklessly.
However, I am saddened to see harmful content released with the purpose of undermining a young man and a friend through fabricated rumors and heavily staged setups. I feel sad when Seunghan’s previously pleasant and polite personality and bright behavior – something I objectively witnessed for a long time – is tarnished just because of a trivial matter, especially when I know better than anyone how hard he struggled. The long period as a trainee and all his efforts disappeared in an instant. I think the Seunghan I know is reflecting on his own mistakes.
He has always been a very thoughtful and caring person, so even though this happened a while ago, I can’t help but wonder how deeply he has been hurt. First of all, I want to say that your own assessment of what happened this year depends on you, so I’m not writing this to force you to see Seunghan in a different light. I just want to make sure that the way you look at Seunghan is not overly biased. Thank you for reading this long post.”
On the other hand, many fans have been showing support for Seunghan, whether through sending a truck to SM or purchasing bus ads.
