Former YG Trainee Wang Kunho Criticizes Inhumane Korean Agency System

YG Entertainment trainee-turned-singer Wang Kunho is attracting attention by making negative remarks about Korean management agencies in an interview with Taiwanese media

On the 14th (local time), Taiwanese media ‘ETtoday’ conducted an interview with Wang Kunho, a member of the Japanese idol group BUGVEL. Wang Kunho, who hails from YG Entertainment, is known to have appeared on survival shows “YG Treasure Box” and “Produce X 101”, but failed to make the debut lineup on both programs.

In the past, Kunho mentioned his appearance on “Produce X 101” and revealed that he, along with his teammates, were severely mistreated. According to the male idol, he couldn’t get enough sleep, and could only rest for 30 minutes before returning to practice.

Additionally, he was requested to “limit” his choreography in fear of it being “too strong”.

Now that he has joined BUGVEL, Wang Kunho recalled his trainee days, stating, “Japan and Korea have different ways of training trainees.” He remarked, “Korea is too strict. Sometimes it’s inhumane.” He added, “One day, I wanted to buy a cola at a convenience store and sneak out with other trainees to throw away trash, but I got caught the next day and scolded.” Wang Kunho expressed his hardships as a trainee, saying, “Unless you’re from a major agency, you have to receive pocket money at home. Even if you debut with a major agency, you still need support from home.”
