Former SNSD member Jessica rumored to participate in Chinese audition program to re-debut

Jessica, a former SNSD member, is embroiled in rumors of appearing in a Chinese entertainment program.

On March 10th, Chinese media reported that Jessica will appear in “Sisters Who Make Waves” season 3. “Sisters Who Make Waves” is an audition program in which female celebrities in their 30s and older compete for a chance to re-debut in a five-member girl group. The show has drawn attention with Fei and Jia from Miss A and Hong Kong stars as participants.

For this reason, speculation is rising that Jessica may debut as a girl group member again. In particular, some are speculating that Jessica’s phrase “Coming soon” posted on her Weibo and Instagram on March 6th may be a hint of her appearance in the show.

Considering that all the stars who were previously rumored to appear all appeared on the program, chances are high that Jessica would become a contestant. Jessica has not mentioned much about her appearance on the show even after the news came out, and she is sharing her daily life by posting photos taken at a golf course on Instagram on March 11th.

On the other hand, even if the rumors of Jessica’s appearance are true, some think that there may be restrictions on her activities in China. Jessica was embroiled in a lawsuit worth 2 billion won with a Chinese management company for not faithfully fulfilling the contract in 2019, and lost after going to the Supreme Court.

In addition, Jessica has been embroiled in a lawsuit because Blanc & Eclare, a fashion brand she founded, failed to pay back $6.82 million in debt.

Jessica, who debuted as a member of Girls’ Generation in 2007, gained a lot of popularity with hit songs such as “Into the New World,” “Gee,” and “Tell Me Your Wish,” and gathered attention for her hit song “Naengmyeon” with Park Myung-soo from the MBC show “Infinite Challenge” in 2009. In 2013, she received attention for her relationship with Tyler Kwon.

Then in September 2014, Jessica left Girls’ Generation and claimed that she had received a “notification of withdrawal” from her agency, but SM confronted her by saying, “Jessica declared that she would stop her activities.”

Eventually, Jessica canceled her exclusive contract with SM early in 2015 and moved to Coridel Entertainment in 2016. Since her transfer to the agency, the idol has worked as a solo artist by releasing solo albums such as “With Love, J,” “Wonderland” and “My Decade.” In addition, she runs a fashion brand Blanc & Eclare and is also working as a designer. However, she has had no music activity since the release of her digital single in September 2019.
