On May 15th, Sublime Artist Agency issued an official statement as below:
Nayoung – leader of PRISTIN will also be the leader of this new girl group.
“Hello, this is Sublime.
We are conveying our official position regarding the expiration of the exclusive contract with Im Nayoung.
Im Nayoung’s exclusive contract has expired, and after careful discussions with Im Nayoung, we have mutually agreed to terminate the exclusive contract.
We would like to express our gratitude to Im Nayoung, who has been with us as our artist, and to the fans who have loved Im Nayoung. We will sincerely support Im Nayoung’s future.
We ask for your unwavering love and support for Im Nayoung, who is about to make a new start.”
Previously, Im Nayoung earned popularity after appearing in season 1 of the Mnet audition show “Produce 101”. She eventually made it to the final debut lineup, and became a member of project girl group I.O.I. In 2017, Im Nayoung re-debuted as a member of Pristin, a girl group under Pledis Entertainment.
However, after Pristin officially disbanded in May 2019, Im Nayoung signed an exclusive contract with Sublime Artist Agency in August of the same year.
Since then, Im Nayoung has made appearances various dramas, movies, and plays, including tvN’s “Flower of Evil”, web series “Summer Guys”, KBS2’s “Imitation”, the movie “Twenty Hacker”, musical “I Loved You”, among others.
Recently, she also made a surprise appearance on the virtual idol audition program, KakaoTV’s “Girl’s Re:verse”.
