Former GFriend Yerin expressed regrets on being hospitalized and had to quit “Girl Reverse”
Singer Yerin recalled her appearance in “Girl Reverse” and the story of having to give up midway due to deteriorating health.
Recently, Yerin conducted an interview with iMBC Entertainment at the MBC building in Sangam-dong, Seoul regarding Kakao Entertainment’s entertainment program “Girl Reverse”.
“Girl Reverse”, in which Yerin appeared as contestant “Chadodo”, is a survival entertainment show in which 30 female Kpop idols compete for a chance to debut as idols in a virtual world.
Yerin appeared in “Girl Reverse” with the thought that it would be fun to have an alter ego that’s the exact opposite with her real-world self. As a result, unlike Yerin, who is lively and outgoing in real life, “Chadodo” is a virtual character with a confident and haughty personality.
According to Yerin, an advantage of virtual idols is that there is no worrying about their appearance. During the stage recording, there were participants wearing sweat suits and some without makeup, the female idol said.
Yerin was unfortunately eliminated in the 6th episode of “Girl Reverse”, the 2nd consolation match to determine the finalists. Previously, she was unable to perform in the 1 vs 1 deathmatch due to a severe flu at the time of recording, which rendered her hospitalized for a week.
“In the end, I couldn’t stand it (the flu) and ended up in the hospital. It was very unfortunate. I practiced hard and recorded everything. I was very worried that the time I worked hard for would go to waste”, Yerin said.
When asked what round she would have been able to reach if she hadn’t withdrawn, Yerin joked, “Wouldn’t debuting be a piece of cake? Chadodo suits debut, no?”
At the same time, she also said, “Even though it was difficult to debut, I think she would have made it to the top 10.”
In “Girl Reverse”, the final 5 contestants will debut as virtual idols. Among the 10 people who have advanced to the finals so far, Yerin pointed out “Muneo” and “Seoritae” as the candidates she thought would win, saying that the two worked very hard and acted well to fit their characters.
The unfamiliar and fresh experience of debuting as a virtual idol gave the public an opportunity to see more of Yerin’s charm, as a solo singer rather than as a member of GFriend. Yerin also expressed her pride, “(Previously) I didn’t show much singing. But through ‘Girl Reverse,’ I was able to show that ‘my voice is like this’ and ‘I can sing like this’, so I was very happy.” .
Yerin also said that she’d recommend the experience of “virtual idol activities” at least once to juniors, stating that it will allow them the opportunity to show more of themselves.
The 11th episode of “Girl Reverse”, where the final debut members will be revealed, will be released for the first time on Kakao Page on March 6th.
