Forbes and Billboard predicted BTS to be nominated for “Record of the Year” at this year’s Grammy Awards
After winning the grand prize at the AMA 2021, BTS is expected to be nominated for the Grammy Awards, the biggest music awards ceremony in the U.S.
On November 22nd (local time), the U.S business magazine Forbes selected BTS’s “Butter” as one of the nominees for the “Record of the Year” in an article giving expectations for the 64th Grammy Awards.
In addition to BTS’s “Butter”, Forbes also expected other nominees to be Doja Cat’s “Kiss Me More”, Justin Bieber’s “Peaches”, The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s collaboration song “Stay”, Lil Nas X’s “MONTERO”, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Driver License”, Silk Sonic’s “Leave the Door Open”, and Taylor Swift’s “willow”.
A total of 8 songs will be nominated for “Record of the Year”, one of the top 4 Grammy main awards called “General Field”. “Recording of the Year”, “Album of the Year”, Song of the Year”, and “Best New Artist” are the four standard awards at the Grammys.
Forbes predicted a fierce competition is about to take place, saying, “In the case of ‘Record of the Year’ category in previous years, confirmed nominees for this grand prize are normally mentioned. However, they didn’t do that this time.”
Earlier, the U.S music media outlet Billboard made a prediction last week that BTS’s “Butter” will be nominated for the “Record of the Year” at the Grammy Awards. Billboard said that BTS’s “Butter” topped the main single chart HOT 100 for 10 weeks, adding, “This will be a historical nominee for the ‘Record of the Year’ category.”
BTS has set a new milestone by dominating the No.1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for 10 consecutive weeks. In addition, they also topped the Hot 100 with “Permission to Dance” and the collaboration song with Coldplay – “My Universe”, reaching the top spot of the Hot 100 Chart 12 times in total this year.
In addition to the Grammy Awards, BTS already experienced winning at the Billboard Music Awards and American Music Awards. These are the top 3 music awards in the U.S. In particular, at the 2021 American Music Awards held on November 21st (local time), BTS won 3 awards, including the grand prize “Artist of the Year”.
At last year’s Grammy Awards, BTS was nominated for the “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” with “Dynamite” but failed to win the award.
Nominees for the 64th Grammy Awards will be announced on the morning of November 23rd (Western time in the U.S). The awards ceremony will be held on January 31st next year at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.
