Singer WOODZ (Cho Seung-yeon) will make his new start at IU’s agency EDAM Entertainment.
On October 5ht, Star News reported that singer WOODZ would move to EDAM Entertainment after his contract with Yuehua Entertainment expires.
On this day, Yuehua Entertainment released an announcement about the expiration of their exclusive contract with WOODZ at the end of October.
The agency said, “We would like to inform you that our exclusive contract with WOODZ will expire at the end of October”, adding “We have been watching WOODZ’s musical passion closely since his debut as a member of a group until now as a solo artist. It was such a meaningful time for us to be with WOODZ, who has grown into an all-rounder artist through constant challenges and efforts. We would like to thank WOODZ for his long journey with our agency and support his new start to achieve another dream”.
WOODZ debuted in 2014 as a member of the multinational idol group UNIQ jointly produced by Yuehua Entertainment and YG Entertainment. After then, he participated in Mnet’s Produce X101” in 2019 and made his re-debut in the project group X1. After completing the group’s activities, he started his solo career and gained recognition as an all-rounder artist who has many talents, such as writing lyrics, composing songs, performing, and vocal. Therefore, expectations are high on what synergy WOODZ and EDAM Entertainment, which has been taking good care of singer-lyricist-composer IU, will create.
EDAM Entertainment is a company established in 2019 by CEO Bae Jong-han, who has been working with IU since her debut in 2008, and Kakao Entertainment. The agency is known to have been established to exclusively manage IU’s activities, but it expanded its activity scope by recruiting actress Shin Se-kyung in 2021.
