“First Korean actor to be nominated for British Academy Film Awards” Teo Yoo fails to win

Actor Teo Yoo, who became the first Korean actor to be nominated for the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) Best Actor in a Leading Role category, failed to win

At the 77th British Academy Film Awards held at the Southbank Centre in London on Feb 18th (local time), “Past Lives” was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Teo Yoo), Best Original Screenplay (Director Celine Song) and Best Film Not in the English Language, but ultimately failed to win any awards.

The trophy in this category was won by Cillian Murphy for “Oppenheimer”. Previously, at the BAFTA, director Park Chan-wook’s “The Handmaiden” won the Best Film Not in the English Language award in 2018, director Bong Joon-ho’s “Parasite” won both the Best Film Not in the English Language award and the Best Original Screenplay award in 2020, and in 2021, actress Youn Yuh-jung won the Best Actress in a Supporting Role award.
