Netizens react to FIFTY FIFTY controversy: “A rookie active for less than a year is already talking about payments?”

Netizens find it hard to sympathize with the girl group FIFTY FIFTY, which is recently in the spotlight due to controversies.

The controversy related to FIFTY FIFTY that has continued for the past six days is widely known as a conflict between the group’s agency and external forces, however, it turns out to be a conflict between FIFTY FIFTY and the agency.

FIFTY FIFTY emerged as the center of attention for the first time on June 23rd. It was when their agency Attrakt complained of external forces.

That day, Attrakt released an official statement claiming that external forces had approached the members and lured them into violating their exclusive contract with Attrakt. The agency also revealed that FIFTY FIFTY members have recently been on a hiatus because a member underwent surgery due to health issues.

Attrakt also disclosed The Givers CEO Ahn Sung Il and three other individuals as external forces. CEO Ahn Sung Il is the producer of FIFTY FIFTY’s hit song “Cupid”.

Until then, FIFTY FIFTY still had nothing to do with the controversy. There were even voices saying, “FIFTY FIFTY just started to gain attention thanks to their hit, they already have to suffer due to their agency’s controversy”.

However, public opinion changed when FIFTY FIFTY members made their first official position amidst controversies on June 28th. That day, the members announced their decision to file an application for an injunction to suspend the validity of their exclusive contracts with Attrakt.

FIFTY FIFTY’s legal representative said, “We have raised issues regarding various circumstances in which Attrakt violated the contract, such as non-transparent settlements and difficulties in carrying out activities despite disclosing their poor health conditions, among other obligations stipulated in the contract.”

Regarding FIFTY FIFTY’s stance, many Internet users commented that it was too hasty for a rookie group that hadn’t even been active for a year to demand an exclusive contract termination due to settlement issues.

The majority of netizens poured negative reactions, such as “They’re not even under a big company. Isn’t it too early for them to ask for settlements?”, “They just debuted less than a year ago and have only one song… but they’re already talking about settlements”, “They immediately suspect non-transparent settlement after having only one successful song?”, “Didn’t the company say they want to focus on discovering talent rather than making money?”, etc.

However, there are still people defending and supporting FIFTY FIFTY. They said, “If I were them, I would also prefer a large company”, “Large agencies handle things better than small and medium-sized agencies”, “If the agency has any payment to settle, they should do it quickly”, etc.

Meanwhile, FIFTY FIFTY debuted on November 18th last year with the EP album “The FIFTY”.
