Fans express anger at Hook Entertainment through an official statement in light of Lee Seung Gi’s slave contract
Fans issued a statement in defense of Lee Seung Gi.
On November 24th, Lee Seung Gi’s fan union, Airen, said in an official statement, “Lee Seung Gi’s fan union, Airene, condemns Hook Entertainment and CEO Kwon Jin Young, and fully supports Lee Seung Gi..”
Airen continued, “It is extremely unfair that despite Lee Seung Gi’s successful singing career, the agency Hook paid Lee Seung Gi 0 won for music revenue, and the request made by Lee Seung Gi last year to verify the music settlement details was ignored.”
The fan union added, “We are enraged that Hook has, through psychological control and oppressive actions for more than 20 years. We demand a formal apology to Lee Seung Gi, completing the settlement of music revenue for Lee Seung Gi’s singing career, termination of the exclusive contract with Lee Stung Gi due to a breach of duty by the agency, abiding by business ethics as an entertainment management company and cessation of threat and slander against Lee Seung Gi.”
They also emphasized, “We declare that we will do our best to protect Lee Seung Gi from Hook and CEO Kwon Jin Young who have habitually committed human rights abuses, and to support and defend Lee Seung Gi’s active entertainment career”
Lee Seung Gi recently sent a certificate of content to his agency Hook Entertainment to disclose the details of the settlement transparently. When this fact became known, suspicions were raised that Lee Seung Gi had not received a single penny of music revenue from Hook Entertainment for the past 18 years.
After that, Kwon Jin Young, CEO of Hook Entertainment, apologized in an official statement on November 21st, saying, “I am ashamed and sorry because everything is my mistake.”
