Fans Boycott TripleS Members Who Don’t Live In Dorm

Many people are surprised to see some TripleS fans boycotting a few members for moving out of the group’s dorm

Recently, a photo showing a male fan ignoring TripleS’s Sohyun at the group’s fansigning event spread in Korean online communities. In the picture, the male fan sat in front of Sohyun but turned his face away and refused to talk to Sohyun.

Criticizing the man for his rude behavior, some fans pointed out that he was boycotting the female idol because she did not live in the dorm with other members.

It is normal for K-pop idol group members to share a dorm to carry out schedules together. However, idols nowadays can live independently or live with their families when there is no promotion.

Known as a huge girl group with 24 members, TripleS once talked about the difficulties of living together in the same house and explained why some of them had to leave the dorm during non-promotional periods. Among the 24 members, Hyerin, Yooyeon, Sohyun and Jiwoo are those who are living outside the dorm and they expect more members to move out.

Upon knowing this, some fans of TripleS expressed frustration, claiming that rookie idols shouldn’t be allowed to live too freely like that. Amid criticism, Yooyeon even had to apologize and promise that she would move back to the dorm. The situation got worse as several fans even planned to boycott the members who left the dorm at the group’s fansigning events, resulting in the scene of the male fan not talking to Sohyun.

In response to this, netizens in theqoo commented, “Being K-pop female idols are not easy”, “Fans are ruining the group’s image”, “That’s so rude, just leave the fandom”, “How can he be called a fan when he couldn’t even keep the right manner?”, “I thought he was the manager”, “It’s not that the group has 4-5 members. There are 24 girls, so, of course, it’s not easy for all of them to live together in a dorm… Why can’t they understand this?”, etc.
