ZE:A’s Moon Joon-young was summarily indicted on charges of drunk driving.
On May 31st, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office (chief prosecutor Jeong Jae-hoon) summarily indicted Moon Joon-young on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving) with a fine of 8 million won. A summary indictment is a process in which the prosecution requests a fine through a written hearing without handing over the suspect to a formal trial.
Earlier, Moon Joon-young was accused of driving under the influence of alcohol in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul at around 1:46 a.m. on March 7th. At that time, he was driving in the reverse direction on a one-way road. The driver coming from the other side found it suspicious and reported it to the police.
Afterwards, the police was dispatched from the Gangnam Police Station to measure Moon Joon-young’s alcohol level, and he had a measurement result equivalent to 0.113% (more than 0.08%), which can be considered as drunk driving.
Moon Joon-young explained through his YouTube channel, “I shouldn’t have driven under the influence of alcohol. I have nothing to say about that and I’m sorry. I fell into a trap.”
