“Extraordinary Attorney Woo” to reveal the English Dubbed version, but the “Yeoksam Station” line has disappeared

The ENA drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” will reveal an English dubbing version on Netflix. Woo Young-woo’s popular self-introduction line in the drama will also have some changes.

Netflix unveiled the dubbing scene of “Woo Young-woo” through Yonhap News Agency on August 23rd (local time). The dubbing work is reportedly underway in Burbank, California, the U.S.

Woo Young-woo’s self-introduction lines (‘Goose Tomato Swiss Shooting Star Yeoksam Station’) was reportedly translated to ‘Kayak, Deed, Rotator, Noon, Racecar, Woo Young-Woo, Civic’, which was a hot topic in Korea.

Most of the English lines were also used in the English subtitles released previously. However, it was regrettable that “Yeoksam Station” was directly translated as “Yeoksam Station” in the subtitles at that time.

Min Kyung-seo, a consultant in charge of Korean language and culture, said, “I was thinking about how native English speakers could understand this line culturally,” adding, “In particular, I thought a lot about translating Yeoksam Station to English and translated it into Civic after a lot of discussion.”

Woo Young-woo, which recently ended in popularity, broke the highest ratings in ENA history with 17.53% (based on Nielsen Korea, paid households nationwide).

Thanks to that, the production team also held a group viewing event at Yongsan I’Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, to commemorate the last episode of the series. The audience who visited the theater got the chance to enjoy the last episode with “Woo Young-woo” to soothe the regret of having to say goodbye to the drama.
