EXO’s 11th Anniversary MV Shooting Scheduled for June 2 Canceled, Full-Group Comeback Uncertain

EXO’s comeback MV shooting has been canceled, casting doubt on their long-awaited full-group promotions.

According to Sports Seoul on June 1st, EXO had planned to shoot a MV for their new song on June 2nd with the full group, excluding Kai who recently enlisted.

However, the scheduled shooting has been temporarily postponed as Baekhyun, Chen, and Xiumin have notified SM Entertainment of their intention to terminate their exclusive contracts. Another MV filming has reportedly been completed before this.

Celebrating their 11th anniversary this year, EXO announced a full-group comeback earlier this year. According to SM’s recent album release plan, EXO’s 7th full album was scheduled to be released in the third quarter.

However, as Kai was suddenly notified of his military enlistment in April, the full-group comeback has been put on hold. Furthermore, with the sudden departure of Baekhyun, Chen, and Xiumin, EXO’s future group activities have become uncertain.

In 2009, when news broke three TVXQ members Jaejoong, Junsu, Yoochun filing a lawsuit against SM Entertainment over unfair contracts, the company announced that it would be difficult to hold the SM TOWN Concert as planned and had to temporarily postpone it.

In 2023, when Baekhyun, Xiumin, and Chen expressed their intention to terminate their contracts with the company, netizens speculate that history is repeating itself as SM seems to be engaging in a similar blame-shifting move by letting the media know that EXO’s full-group comeback MV has been postponed due to this matter.

The current situation is leaving fans perplexed. The dispute over exclusive contracts between Baekhyun, Chen, Xiumin and SM does not seem likely to be resolved easily. Therefore, it appears that it will be difficult for EXO’s comeback to take place for the time being.
