Ex-husband’s Response
Wang Xiaofei, the ex-husband of Barbie Hsu, recently revealed his position regarding his children for the first time since Barbie Hsu’s death through a live broadcast. Here, the businessman said, “The condition of both children has improved significantly. The children are currently living with my wife and (they) seem to be relatively harmonious.”

He also stated, “As a father, I am worried about the children’s physical and mental health, so I decided to stay with them. It is a difficult time, but I will grit my teeth and overcome it,” adding “I hope the children can return to a normal life as soon as possible. Although they lost their biological mother, their stepmother is taking good care of them. I hope that the adults’ fighting will not destroy the children’s innocent world.”
Regarding his debt that amounts to 250 million yuan (approx. 33.8 million USD), Wang Xiaofei insisted that he will resolve the situation, as reported by Chinese media outlet.
Barbie Hsu Paid Ex-Husband’s Debt?
According to multiple Chinese media outlets such as QQ News, famous Taiwanese manager Chen Xiaozhi claimed on her social media account that Wang Xiaofei (ex-husband) owes Barbie Hsu a large sum of money.
Specifically, Chen Xiaozhi claimed, “Wang Xiaofei took out a loan in Barbie Hsu’s name to buy a luxury home, and has not paid the money back to this day.” She also released a recording file left by Barbie Hsu when the late actress was still alive.

According to Chen Xiaozhi, Wang Xiaofei, as a mainland Chinese, had limitations in obtaining loans from Taiwan, so he took out a loan in Barbie Hsu’s name to purchase the luxury apartment in Taiwan that the late actress was known to have received from Wang Xiaofei. During this process, contrary to the story that Barbie Hsu received the apartment as a gift, she had to repay 1 million Taiwanese dollars (about 30,500 USD) every month.
Chen also claimed that Wang Xiaofei continuously borrowed money from Barbie Hsu but never repaid it, and that the actress’s mother eventually stepped in and asked Wang Xiaofei to write a promissory note.
Children Taken to Beijing
Meanwhile, media outlet Sohu cited sources from Taiwanese media revealing that Barbie Hsu’s ex-husband, Wang Xiaofei, currently owes a debt of up to 250 million RMB (nearly 35 million USD). This debt dates back to the time when Wang Xiaofei and Barbie Hsu were still legally married.

After Barbie Hsu’s passing, not only did Wang Xiaofei fail to settle the debt, but he also returned to Beijing. The debt reportedly stemmed from the construction of SHotel. Wang Xiaofei had borrowed 26 million TWD (about 800,000 USD) and another 10 million NTD (about 305,000 USD) from Barbie Hsu, in addition to mortgage loans and installment payments for an apartment in Xinyi District, Taipei (Taiwan). In total, Wang Xiaofei’s debt amounted to 250 million RMB (nearly 35 million USD). Now, Barbie Hsu’s mother is demanding that he fully repay the amount on behalf of her late daughter.
Additionally, Barbie Hsu’s mother is also requesting Wang Xiaofei to pay overdue fees, compensation for emotional distress, and unpaid child support. In other words, she is holding Wang Xiaofei accountable for both old and new debts.

While the accuracy of these claims remains uncertain, it is clear that Barbie Hsu’s sudden passing has caused a media frenzy. Even before her ashes could be laid to rest, family disputes have already become widely publicized.
As for Wang Xiaofei, he has now brought his two children with Barbie Hsu back to Beijing. The process was allegedly not hindered by Barbie Hsu’s family members, and many people believe this was the right decision. Given that the children have lost their mother, they now need the care of their biological father.
