Ex-(G)I-DLE Soojin’s solo debut showed remarkable global achievements “#1 on iTunes in 9 regions”

Despite the school violence controversy, singer Soojin achieved global solo debut results

On Nov 8th, Soojin released her first solo EP “Agassy” through various music streaming sites. As of Nov 10th, the music video of the title track “Agassy” reached the top spot on the worldwide trending chart.

Furthermore, the album showed remarkable global achievements by topping the iTunes chart in 9 regions, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam.

The title track “Agassy” is a song that combines a peculiar melody transcending the past and present with oriental sounds from various instruments, poetic lyrics and Soojin’s graceful dance moves. Aside from “Agassy”, the album includes a variety of atmospheres with tracks such as “Blooming”, “Sunflower”, “TyTy”, “SUNSET” and “bloodredroses”.

Meanwhile, in 2021, allegations surfaced online accusing Soojin of being a perpetrator of school violence. Soojin and her agency denied the allegations, even filing a lawsuit against the person who made the accusations. However, as the controversy persisted, Soojin halted all activities in March that year and left the group in August that year. After the “school violence whistleblower” received a non-indictment decision in March last year, the agency terminated Soojin’s exclusive contract.
