Ex-B.A.P Himchan Faces Sentencing Hearing For Second Charge After Third Sexual Crime Was Found

The sentencing trial for former B.A.P member Himchan’s second forced harassment charge will be held on Sep 25th

According to legal circles, the sentencing hearing for Himchan (real name Kim Him-chan) was originally scheduled to be held at the Seoul Western District Court on the morning of September 6th but it had been postponed to the 25th.

The postponement of the sentencing trial seems to have been due to the request to merge cases from Himchan’s side. Earlier, Himchan was once again booked for the third charge of sexual crime (sexual harassment of woman D in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul) at the first trial of the second forced sexual harassment charge held on April 3rd. Through his legal representative, Himchan requested a trial for both the second charge and the third charge.

Himchan is currently imprisoned as the sentence of the first forced sexual harassment charge. In 2018, he was accused of sexually harassing a woman in her 20s while drinking with his acquaintances at a pension in Namyangju. After a legal battle, Himchan was sentenced to 10 months in prison and 40 hours of sexual violence treatment program.

In addition, Himchan was reported to have forcibly harassed two women in a bar in Yongsan-gu, Seoul in April last year. It is known that the victims personally visited the police station immediately after the incident and reported that Himchan touched their chests and waists. Later, Himchan admitted to all charges then paid 10 million won to each victim, submitted an agreement, and filed an appeal for leniency.

During the trial on his second forced sexual harassment charge, a new rap crime was found and the cases were asked to be merged into one. However, the request was turned down because the prosecution was still conducting further investigations and had not yet indicted Himchan.
