On May 11, the YouTube channel “Donghaemul and Baekdu Eunhyuk” uploaded a video titled, “’You Dated Super Junior?!’ Eunhyuk & Boram Finally Explain Their Dating Rumors That Even Made People Suspect SeeYa’s Nam Gyu Ri.”
Assoon as SeeYa appeared on the show, Donghae jokingly said, “Before anything else, let’s clear this up first. A lot of people are curious about Boram and Eunhyuk.”
Eunhyuk looked confused and replied, “Not people who are curious — are there actually people who still believe it?” Lee Boram also sighed and said, “I’m so tired of this rumor.” The two idols were famously caught up in dating speculation back in 2007.
Explaining how the rumors first started, Lee Boram shared, “Nothing actually happened between us. It was because of him,” while pointing at Eunhyuk. “We were doing something like Dream Concert, and all the singers were standing together on stage. While passing by, he lightly tapped my head.”
That small interaction reportedly led some people to suspect the two were dating. The broadcast then showed the actual clip in question. While leaving the stage, Eunhyuk could be seen casually patting Lee Boram on the head as he walked by.
After watching the footage, Donghae commented, “This doesn’t look like something people in a relationship would do. It feels more like, ‘Hey, I’m leaving.’” Eunhyuk agreed, adding, “Honestly, if we were really dating, I probably wouldn’t have acted like that in public.”
Lee Boram also recalled being questioned by her agency the next day. “They asked me, ‘What kind of relationship do you have with him?’ I told them, ‘We’re nothing, just friends.’ But somehow articles still got written about it. Reporters kept asking questions, but it really wasn’t true,” she explained.
Eunhyuk then reminisced about their old friendship group, saying, “From what I remember, we even created an ‘86-line’ group with Yeonji. We jokingly called ourselves ‘Lee Hyuk Jae and the leftovers,’ so the nickname became ‘Ashtray.’”
He added that the group often hung out together at a playground near their dorms. “None of us drank alcohol, so we used to play water gun fights instead. If we were really dating, photos from moments like that should’ve come out, but there was never anything,” he joked, making everyone laugh.
The two also revealed they once lent each other money. Eunhyuk suddenly asked, “Wait, did you borrow money from me too?” causing Lee Boram to protest, “What are you talking about? You were the one who asked me to lend you money!”
She explained that during a variety show mission, Eunhyuk called her asking to borrow 500,000 won. At the time, she did not even have that amount herself, but still promised to find the money and help him complete the mission.
Eunhyuk admitted, “Back then, 500,000 won was a huge amount for us.” When Lee Boram asked, “You really didn’t have that money?” Eunhyuk replied, “No, we really didn’t.” Lee Boram then added, “We didn’t either. We were so broke at the time that we even got kicked out because we couldn’t afford food.”
