ENHYPEN Stole A Font without Permission? Called Out by Original Designer

A designer recently accused HYBE & Belift Lab of stealing a font and using it without permission on ENHYPEN’s album.

On May 25 (Korean time), graphic designer Margot Leveque published several Instagram stories that include several tracklist and teaser images of boy group ENHYPEN.

According to Margot, ENHYPEN’s tracklist and teaser images all utilize her font “Romie” without permission, and even “destroyed” the font.

Particularly, the designer attached comments “All Romie destroyed quite cool” and “Lovely use of Romie. But please send money now” while tagging the official Instagram account of ENHYPEN, basically stating that ENHYPEN’s agency Belift Lab and HYBE have stolen her hard work.

Seeing the new accusation, various netizens have expressed disappointment in HYBE & Belift Lab, with some even bringing up a previous plagiarism incident of ENHYPEN

Below are some comments from netizens:

  • This entertainment company has no awareness of copyright…
  • Again? They have been stealing things left and right for while
  • Unauthorized theft is a problem, but it’s even more problematic that the font was taken and modified. The designer pointed out that too, saying her font was “destroyed”.
  • Not this company again…
  • I don’t understand how controversies like this keep popping up in one company… Do they never learn?
