Netflix’s Wednesday season 2 is making waves for its surprise BLACKPINK cameo, but one interview answer has shifted the spotlight to controversy.
In the new season, Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday dances to BLACKPINK’s hit track “Boombayah,” thrilling K-Pop fans worldwide. However, co-star Emma Myers—who plays Enid Sinclair—recently faced criticism after addressing the scene in an MTV UK interview.
When asked if she had recommended the BLACKPINK track, Emma clarified: “I did not recommend the song. I’ve had a lot of people ask me, ‘Oh you must have had the K-Pop influence.’ I have no say in what happens in the editing room at all. But I thought… that’s a great dance song for Enid.”

She added that although her character Enid is portrayed as a K-Pop fan, she didn’t choreograph Jenna Ortega’s dance. Instead, she sent Ortega a compilation of videos showing how Enid might dance, leaving the final interpretation to her co-star.
“I was not on set to see Jenna do that, but I did send her a bunch of videos… I think she pulled what she wanted. So I let her do her thing.” Emma Myers said.
Despite the explanation, some BLACKPINK fans took issue with her tone, accusing Emma of dismissiveness. The interview clip, posted by MTV on X (formerly Twitter), quickly spread and drew sharp responses.
One fan wrote, “She clearly doesn’t like BLACKPINK, the tone says it all,” while another claimed she “only likes boy groups.”
Others, however, rushed to defend Emma, pointing out that she may simply have grown tired of repeatedly fielding K-Pop questions. Some argued her comments were neutral and misinterpreted.
This divide has sparked heated debate online, showing once again how sensitive global fandoms can be when it comes to their idols.
