Did BLACKPINK just make a cameo in Netflix’s biggest fantasy hit?

K-pop fans were left stunned when the iconic debut hit “BOOMBAYAH” by BLACKPINK made a bold and unexpected appearance in Wednesday Season 2, Episode 6

The Netflix series made a triumphant return after three years, immediately breaking records by surpassing Stranger Things in first-week viewership and topping Netflix charts in 91 countries —a first for any English-language series.

But it wasn’t just the eerie storyline that got fans talking.

In a comedic body-swap twist, upbeat werewolf Enid finds herself in Wednesday Addams’ gloomy body. Instead of playing moody cello music, Enid seizes the opportunity to live her dream: blasting BLACKPINK’s “BOOMBAYAH” and dancing wildly from the dorm room to the school courtyard.

“It was pure chaos—in the best way possible. And yes, Enid is officially a Blink!” said the show’s music director Nicole Weisberg.

The energetic scene lasts nearly two full minutes, making it more than just a background track. Though BLACKPINK themselves don’t appear on screen, the sheer power of their music had fans flocking to social media.

X (Twitter) and TikTok were flooded with clips of the scene, remixes, and reactions. The K-pop fandom rejoiced, especially those who’ve supported the girl group since their early days.

“BOOMBAYAH is back and it’s bigger than ever!”

For context, Wednesday Season 1’s viral dance moment used “Goo Goo Muck” by The Cramps, but the clip only became a global trend when fans paired it with Lady Gaga’s “Bloody Mary” —which subsequently went viral and re-entered charts a decade after release.

It seems Netflix is leaning into the trend this time around, deliberately injecting global K-pop energy to spark another cultural phenomenon. Could this be BOOMBAYAH’s Bloody Mary moment?
