Lee Hi and Dok2 have reportedly been in a romantic relationship for about five years. According to an exclusive report on March 28, rapper Dok2 (real name Lee Joon-kyung) and singer Lee Hi recently co-founded 808 HI RECORDINGS, a label centered on hip-hop and R&B music. Through this new venture, Dok2 and Lee Hi plan to expand beyond music releases into concert planning, video content production, and various creative projects. They also aim to discover and nurture emerging artists.
Dok2 is widely recognized as one of the leading figures in the Korean hip-hop scene. Active since the mid-2000s, he has earned both critical and commercial success with his distinctive rap style. Previously, he played a key role in the success of Illionaire Records, setting a precedent for independent label operations in Korea’s hip-hop industry.
Meanwhile, Lee Hi rose to fame after finishing as runner-up on the audition program K-pop Star and made her official debut in 2012. Known for her powerful vocals and unique tone, she has been especially praised for her work in the R&B genre.
Building on their extensive musical experience, Dok2 and Lee Hi plan to lead 808 HI RECORDINGS with a focus on collaboration. In addition to their solo activities, the two artists intend to release duet projects and work with a diverse range of musicians. They are also preparing for global activities, including tour concerts.
To mark the official launch of the label, Dok2 and Lee Hi will release their duet track “You & Me” at 6 PM on the same day through various online music platforms. The release date holds special meaning as it coincides with Dok2’s birthday (March 28). Distribution for the new song will be handled by YG Plus.
The unexpected collaboration between Dok2 and Lee Hi has already drawn significant attention within the industry. The two artists shared, “Through 808 HI RECORDINGS, we want to pursue music more freely and contribute to the growth of Korea’s hip-hop and R&B scene. Our goal is to create fresh music and a new culture together with talented artists.”
