Do Kyung Soo on his new movie “The Moon”, “Filming in spacesuit without water was challenging”
Do Kyung Soo revealed various behind-the-scenes stories about the filming “The Moon”.
The July 18th broadcast of SBS PowerFM’s “Choi Hwa Jung’s Power Time” featured actor Do Kyung Soo (EXO D.O) and director Kim Yong Hwa of the movie “The Moon” as guests.
“The Moon” is drawing keen attention as the first Korean movie to tell about moon exploration. Regarding the movie, Do Kyung Soo said, “It centers around people in Korea struggling to rescue Sun Woo, who is left on the moon due to an unexpected accident”.
Director Kim shared, “I wondered if we could produce a movie about moon exploration in Korea”. Despite his concern, the director also showed his confidence in the movie as well as the actor’s performances. In fact, people who watched “The Moon” in advance gave reviews that it would be more interesting than “Along with the Gods”, raising viewers’ expectations for the movie’s official premiere.
The MC mentioned the anecdote that Do Kyung Soo couldn’t drink water during the filming of “The Moon” because of his special costume. In response, Do Kyung Soo confessed that he refrained from drinking water to avoid going to the restroom because it was quite uncomfortable to take off the spacesuit in the middle of the filming.
The actor shared, “I was okay with filming alone but the fact that I couldn’t drink water made the shoot more difficult.”
The MC then asked Do Kyung Soo the reason he has not watched the movie yet. Do Kyung Soo replied, “I didn’t have any chance to watch it. But I’m also waiting to watch the movie after it is 100% completed”, revealing his plan to watch the movie on the 25th.
Director Kim continued by sharing an anecdote of when he was deeply moved by the actors during “The Moon” filming. He said, “I was very impressed by the actors’ acting performances. I gave them one line, and they would prepare 3-4 different versions of it”.
He also praised Do Kyung Soo and surprised everyone when disclosing that Do Kyung Soo was the reason he decided to shoot Korea’s first movie in 4K resolution. Director Kim confessed, “I wanted to highlight his deep eyes with overwhelming image quality”.
