Nearly a year after the sudden passing of Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, her husband, DJ Koo, is showing visible signs of physical and emotional recovery. According to Chinese media outlet QQ, DJ Koo visited his late wife’s grave on November 27, maintaining a ritual he has kept up since her death.
Photos of DJ Koo at the Jinbaoshan Cemetery have gone viral on social media, with many fans commenting on his notably healthier appearance. Dressed in a dark denim outfit paired with a loose jacket and bright orange boots, DJ Koo was described as looking “younger and more vibrant.” Fans also noted that his complexion appeared rosier and that he seemed less gaunt and more composed in front of the camera.
Comments on Weibo reflected support and relief, with users writing, “He seems to have gotten through the hardest phase” and “He’s found peace again.” Lily, the daughter of Barbie Hsu’s younger sister Dee Hsu, had previously shared in a Taiwanese interview that the family had been worried about DJ Koo’s health and made efforts to ensure he was eating properly after his dramatic weight loss.

Despite his improving condition, DJ Koo’s habit of visiting Barbie Hsu’s grave remains unchanged. Cemetery staff revealed that he comes to the site nearly every day. Unlike most visitors who come and go quickly, he often finds a quiet corner to sit and reflect for several hours. However, one notable change is that he now occasionally brings friends with him, rather than coming alone.
Social media continues to buzz with reactions to DJ Koo’s transformation. Some joked, “He used to be so thin, and now he looks good enough for a commercial deal. What a coincidence.” Others revived old rumors about his financial dependence on Barbie Hsu during their marriage, speculating about motives tied to inheritance. One user even compared him to actor Jerry Yan, noting, “Most people quietly cry when visiting graves, but DJ Koo brings friends and chats like he’s on a picnic.”

Through all the scrutiny and criticism, DJ Koo has remained silent.
Barbie Hsu, born in 1976, rose to fame with her roles in hit dramas like Meteor Garden, Mars, and Summer’s Desire. She retired from acting in 2012 and lived a largely private life. Following her divorce from businessman Wang Xiaofei in late 2021, she focused on raising her children. In 2022, she surprised the public by marrying South Korean musician DJ Koo.
On February 3, 2025, local media, quoting her sister Dee Hsu, reported that Barbie Hsu had passed away on February 2 due to complications from the flu and pneumonia while vacationing in Japan during the Lunar New Year.
