On June 6, Dee Hsu posted a heartfelt message on her social media account, recalling memories from their teenage years. “My sister and I were huge fans of Japan’s SMAP when we were in middle school,” she wrote. “We secretly planned a trip to Japan to see a SMAP concert without telling our mom. But since we were under 18, we needed parental consent to travel abroad. In the end, our mom found out and was furious.”

She continued, “Our mother eventually allowed us to go on the condition that our grandmother came with us. After arriving in Japan, we visited a broadcasting station, but we couldn’t meet anyone. In the end, we simply joined our grandmother’s package tour schedule. My sister even slipped in the snow and cried. Looking back at the photos now, I’m grateful we had that trip with our grandmother.”

Dee Hsu then revealed the emotional way she continues to cope with the loss of her sister. “I can say this now,” she shared. “Lately, I keep leaving messages for my sister because she was the only one who truly understood so many things. Sadly, I can’t hear her replies, but just talking to her is enough for me. I will love you forever,” expressing her enduring longing for Barbie Hsu.

Alongside the message, Dee uploaded several childhood photos taken during their trip to Japan. In the images, Barbie Hsu could be seen smiling brightly with her signature warm and lovable charm, leaving fans emotional.

Koo Jun Yup and Barbie Hsu first met in 1998 and dated for about a year before eventually parting ways. Afterward, Koo rose to fame as a member of the duo Clon, while Barbie Hsu became a household name through the Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden, where she played the female lead.

Barbie later married Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei in 2011, and the couple had one son and one daughter together. However, they divorced in November 2021. After hearing the news, Koo Jun Yup reportedly reached out to Barbie using the same phone number he had kept from 20 years earlier, rekindling their relationship. The couple reunited and married in 2022, receiving warm congratulations from fans in both South Korea and Taiwan.

Tragically, Barbie Hsu passed away in February 2025 during a trip to Japan due to acute pneumonia-related complications. Her death deeply affected Koo Jun Yup, who reportedly lost over 12 kilograms while grieving. More recently, he has been channeling his emotions into art, completing a memorial statue in her honor and creating oil paintings inspired by her memory while largely staying away from public activities.
