DAY6 Helps Children with Incurable Diseases

The band DAY6 and their agency JYP Entertainment (JYP) are helping children in Korea with incurable diseases

In June 2019, JYP signed an MOU with Make-A-Wish Korea to continue their CSR activity “EDM (Every Dream Matters!)”, a project that emotionally supports children with incurable diseases to give them hope. Recently, a wish from a Korean child who wanted to meet DAY6 was conveyed, and the members responded, spending special time together.

Seven-year-old Lee Gun-woo was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia last year and has been receiving continuous treatment. Make-A-Wish kid Lee Gun-woo has been a fan of DAY6, using their music to lift his spirits and gain energy during tough treatments. Unable to attend DAY6’s concert “Welcome to the Show” held in April due to his weakened immune system, Lee Gun-woo expressed his wish to meet DAY6 through Make-A-Wish Korea, which led to the meeting.

DAY6 held a special mini-concert, performing songs that Gun-woo likes. The members also spent time playing instruments with Gun-woo, who has an interest in instruments, answering his questions. They took commemorative photos and gifted him signed albums and T-shirts. Especially, member Wonpil showed his kindness by gifting his own keyboard to Gun-woo so that he could practice consistently.

Gun-woo expressed his joy, “Spending time with DAY6, whom I wanted to meet, was as great as the universe. Thank you for giving me the piano (keyboard) I wanted. I will practice hard to become a cool person like DAY6 members.” Gun-woo’s mother added, “Today will be remembered as the ‘best part’ of my child’s life, just like one of DAY6’s song titles. I am grateful to JYP and Make-A-Wish Korea for leaving such a significant page in my child’s life.

DAY6 said, “We hope that the time spent with us will be remembered as a good memory in the future. We wish for Gun-woo to grow up cheerful and innocent, and we hope to meet him again at our concert when he’s healthy. We also hope that he achieves his dream of becoming a great musician by practicing a lot with the keyboard (gifted by Wonpil).
