Dawn, who left his group and broke up with HyunA, now has to prove his own “singer identity”

Questions are arising regarding Dawn’s capability as a singer after he signed an exclusive contract with GroovyRoom’s agency AREA

AREA, the agency founded by producer duo GroovyRoom, officially signed an exclusive contract with Dawn last month. Having already left his group PENTAGON and was once known as “HyunA’s boyfriend”, Dawn’s success now only lies with himself. 

The news of Dawn’s exclusive contract was enough to draw attention. Previously, Dawn was an artist under PSY’s P NATION. At the time, he suddenly ended his contract and went free-agent for a while. Now that Dawn has signed with another agency, a positive signal can be seen for the continuity of his entertainment activities. 

Previously in 2016, Dawn acknowledged his relationship with HyunA, leading to him being more known as “HyunA’s boyfriend” than as a singer. At the time, Dawn was a member of boy group PENTAGON and the mixed trio Triple H, but Cube Entertainment fired him after his relationship announcement. 

In addition, HyunA, who was the icon of Cube Entertainment, also chose love over her agency. The couple received a lot of support and encouragement from many people, and it was PSY who welcomed them as artists.

Psy expressed his will for a place where artists can freely express themselves. For that reason, P NATION was created, and here, artists can show their colors to their heart’s content. It was the best choice for HyunA, who has a strong personality.

As the boyfriend of HyunA, Dawn naturally joined P NATION. Many years have passed since then, but he has not left a mark as a singer. He simply appeared on entertainment programs or drew attention through social media posts.

HyunA and Dawn were artists before they were lovers. It was thus natural for them to worry about the future and about their careers. They eventually bidded goodbye from P NATION, though still remaining as lovers. 

It was in November 2022 that HyunA and Dawn announced their sudden breakup via an Instagram post, and no longer appeared together. 

Now, the problem was Dawn’s next destination, seeing that as HyunA’s boyfriend, he hadn’t shown much progress as an individual artist, and interest in him has declined. In addition, Dawn has never held a solo concert. 

There are many challenges for Dawn to overcome in order to leap forward. Nevertheless, these variables can be tackled by his new agency. After all, if Dawn can win over the public with a good song, all problems will be solved quickly.
