“Avatar” sequel will introduce Fire Na’vi, big time jump, and a return to Earth

The rough storylines of “Avatar” 3, 4 and 5 have been revealed by the franchise’ producer and director.

According to American media outlet Variety on February 3rd (Korean time), “Avatar” producer Jon Landau briefly mentioned the contents of the remaining Avatar projects through an interview.

First of all, Jon Landau said that in “Avatar 3”, a more villainous Na’vi race called “the Ash people” will appear. This supported a previous remark of director James Cameron, who said that a Na’vi culture different from what has been shown before will be introduced in the third “Avatar” movie.

At the same time, Landau mentioned in his interview with magazine “Empire” that there will be “a big time jump” in the 4th “Avatar” movie, However, it is not yet known whether the time jump refers to a time warp using a time machine, or if the main characters change over time.

Finally, regarding the “Avatar 5”, Jon Laudon confirmed in an interview with Gizmodo that a return to Earth will be included. “We go to it to open people’s eyes, open Neytiri’s eyes, to what exists on Earth”, he said.

On the other hand, since it was mentioned that Earth in the “Avatar” timeline is dying due to overpopulation and resource depletion, fans are curious how the story will unfold in the “Avatar” movies.

Meanwhile, it is known that a new “Avatar” sequel will be released every two years. Accordingly, “Avatar 3” is expected to be released in December 2024.
