New details have emerged in the preliminary hearings involving singer D4vd, who is accused of murdering 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Prosecutors have presented a timeline of events and additional allegations as the court determines whether there is enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial.
On September 9, 2025, authorities discovered a body inside an impounded vehicle in Los Angeles, California. The Los Angeles Police Department responded after receiving reports of a strong odor coming from an impounded car that had remained at the location for several days. Officers then found human remains concealed inside a bag within the vehicle.
The vehicle was identified as a Tesla registered under D4vd’s name.
The victim was later identified as Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Court documents have alleged that she and D4vd had been acquainted for years and may have been involved in a relationship. As the investigation continued, prosecutors presented additional details regarding the alleged timeline of events.
According to prosecutors, D4vd allegedly brought Hernandez to his residence on April 23, 2025, where they claim he attacked her and left her to die before attempting to establish an alibi.
Investigators further alleged that on May 5, after obtaining various supplies, D4vd dismembered Hernandez’s body. Prosecutors also claimed that visits to a disposal location occurred on May 8 and May 31, allegedly in connection with efforts to remove evidence.
During the hearings, graphic photographs related to the investigation were presented in court. Prosecutors claimed that parts of Hernandez’s body had been removed, including fingers reportedly connected to tattoos associated with D4vd.
The case has also drawn attention due to D4vd’s public activities following the alleged timeline. On May 23, the singer appeared on the Korean music program M!Countdown, where he performed and interacted with K-Pop artists. The performance has reportedly since been removed from YouTube, although other content featuring his activities, including street performances, remains available online.
Prosecutors have also suggested that financial motives may have played a role, claiming that D4vd’s promotional activities were connected to the release of his debut album.
Attorney Patrick Steinfeld, who represents Hernandez’s family, stated that the singer had reportedly secured major financial guarantees related to his career, including potential earnings ranging from $3 million to $6 million with additional bonuses. He said the victim’s family was shocked by the scale of D4vd’s income and future earning potential.
The preliminary hearings will continue this week and are expected to determine whether prosecutors have presented sufficient evidence for D4vd to stand trial.
