According to ABC News and other local outlets on September 17 (local time), the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the remains discovered last week in D4vd’s car belonged to a teenager who had been reported missing since April 5 of last year. She was last seen near Lake Elsinore in Riverside County, east of Los Angeles. Her cause of death remains undetermined.

Officials reported that the body was in an advanced state of decomposition, suggesting it had been inside the vehicle for an extended period. Police said the car had been towed by the city and placed in a storage lot on September 5 after being left abandoned. Officers responded to a report of a strong odor coming from the vehicle, leading to the discovery of the girl’s body in the trunk.

Previously, shocking news emerged from Los Angeles as a body was discovered in a vehicle registered under singer D4vd (real name David Anthony Burke, 20). Authorities confirmed they are investigating the case as a potential homicide.

On September 9 (local time), U.S. media outlets including NBC and ABC reported that a corpse inside a bag was found in the front trunk (“frunk”) of the vehicle, which was being stored at a tow yard in Los Angeles, California.

Police had received a complaint about a strong odor coming from the car. Upon inspection, they found a body that was severely decomposed and damaged, making identification impossible at this stage.

The car had been discovered abandoned near Hollywood two days earlier and towed away. The disturbing discovery was made after staff at the tow yard reported the smell.

The Los Angeles Police Department stated that they are working to determine the cause of death, with murder as a possibility. The LA County Coroner’s Office is conducting a detailed autopsy to identify the victim and establish the time and cause of death.

Police sources revealed that while the car is registered to D4vd, it was one of several vehicles he owns and may have been used by people around him.

D4vd’s team released a statement: “D4vd has been notified about the incident and, despite currently being on tour, he is fully cooperating with the police investigation.”

D4vd, who gained popularity through social media, debuted as a singer-songwriter and released his first full-length album in April 2025. He is currently on his “Withered World” world tour and performed in Minneapolis on the very day the discovery was made.

The artist has been expanding his global presence, performing in Korea last year, appearing on Mnet’s M Countdown stage in May, and collaborating with Stray Kids’ Hyunjin on “Always Love” released in June.

In a shocking twist, on September 10 another body was found in a different car at a separate tow yard in South Los Angeles. Police have not confirmed any connection between the two cases.

As investigations continue, fans and the entertainment world alike are awaiting further updates on what could become one of the most shocking stories to hit the music industry this year.
