1. Kim Soo Hyun X Kim Ji Won: “Queen of Tears” (working title)

Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won will co-star in the new series “Queen of Tears” by writer Park Ji Eun. The directing team includes director Jang Young Woo of “Crash Landing on You” and “Mr. Sunshine” as well as director Kim Hee Won of “Little Women” and “Vincenzo”.

The story revolves around a miraculous love story in which a married couple overcomes a dizzying crisis. With writer Park Ji Eun’s signature humor, “Queen of Tears” is expected to be a heartwarming drama that can make viewers feel the importance of family.

Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won will appear in the drama as a married couple. Kim Soo Hyun plays Baek Hyun Woo, the pride of Yongduri village and the legal counsel of Queens Group, while Kim Ji-won takes on the role of Hong Hae In, the third-generation heir of Queens Group known as the “arrogant queen” of Queens Department Store. The two actors will bring both laughter and emotional depth to the small-screen audiences. “Queen of Tears” is set to be released in the second half of this year.

2. IU X Park Bo Gum: “You Have Done Well”

IU and Park Bo Gum will work together in the new work called “You Have Done Well” written by Lim Sang Chun. Initially known by the working title “Life”, this drama depicts the adventurous lives of two individuals, rebellious and ambitious Ae Soon and strong-willed Gwan Shik, who were both born in Jeju in the 1950s. It brings back memories of the old days like a tribute to the old seasons of parents, who were so young and reckless back then, with stories such as mom’s first love, dad’s dance, grandmother’s rebel days, and grandfather when in love.

IU will portray the rebellious girl Ae Soon, nicknamed “wild potato”, while Park Bo Gum plays the silent and firm Gwan Shik, nicknamed “Iron.” Ae Soon is a passionate and promising girl who always looks toward the light like a flower blooming under the sun even in the shade of a dark wall that never lets the sun through. Despite not being able to attend school, she, a bold and cheerful character who laughs loud enough to echo throughout the ocean and cries without hiding her emotions, dreams of becoming a poet. Gwan Shik is a diligent and hardworking person who understands the value of sincerity. However, this guy easily breaks down when it comes to love, especially when Ae Soon smiles or cries. Still, like a warrior with a loyal heart, he never sways and only loves and respects Aesoon. The pre-production of “You Have Done Well” is scheduled to begin in the first half of this year.

3. Gong Yoo X Seo Hyun Jin: “Trunk”

Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun Jin, who are both under Management SOOP, will meet each other in the same work. The two will co-star in Netflix’s original series “Trunk”. It is based on a novel of the same name by Kim Rye Ryeong, known for movie hits such as “Punch” and “Thread of Lies”.

“Trunk” depicts the events that happen at the temporary marriage agency NM, which sets up marriage for customers with their desired partners. Seo Hyun Jin will be in charge of NM’s deputy director Noh In Ji, who is anti-marriage but professionally involved with it, while Gong Yoo takes on the role of a music producer named Han Jung Won who believes that all marriages in the world are frauds. This drama will be directed by Kim Kyu Tae, who previously created “Our Blues”, “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo”, “It’s Okay, That’s Love”, and “Live”, with the script written by Park Eun Young, the writer of “Hwarang”.

4. Jeon Ji Hyun X Kang Dong Won: “Polaris” (working title)

Jeon Ji Hyun and Kang Dong-won, the combination that is often only seen on virtual casting surveys, will actually be together in one production. The drama the two will be working on is called “Polaris” (working title). Expectations are already high as it heralds the reunion of writer Jung Seo Kyung and director Kim Hee Won, who previously collaborated and showed perfect chemistry when making “Little Women”.
