At a company meeting in 2019, AStory, the production company that made dramas “Signal”, “Kingdom”, “100 Days My Prince”, etc., explained, “We are preparing for ‘Signal Season 2’.The lead actors Kim Hye Soo, Cho Jin Woong, and Lee Je Hoon all expressed their willingness to participate if Season 2 is produced.”

However, in 2020, AStory announced the news of an indefinite postponement, saying “The production of ‘Signal 2’ has been delayed due to various factors, such as problems when matching the schedules of actors”.

“Signal” writer Kim Eun Hee also mentioned the work at the press conference for Netflix’s “Kingdom: Ashin of the North” in 2021. She said, “It’s not a decision I can make solely on my own, but I want to produce Season 2 somehow. Before I retire, I want to make a sequel to ‘Signal’ in some way.”

Starring Kim Hye Soo, Cho Jin Woong and Lee Je Hoon, “Signal” is an investigative series written by Kim Eun Hee (“Sign”, “Phantom”, “Kingdom”, etc.) and directed by PD Kim Won Seok (“Misaeng”, “Sungkyunkwan Scandal”). It aired on tvN in 2016.

“Signal” tells about detectives from the past and present, connected through a desperate signal from the past, uncovering unsolved cases. At the time it was broadcasted, the drama set a viewership record by achieving 15%. “Signal” was recognized as a well-made work by winning Best Drama at the 2016 Baeksang Arts Awards. Meanwhile, writer Kim Eun Hee will introduce a new work called “The Devil” through SBS this June. “The Devil” is an occult mystery thriller centering around a woman possessed by a devil and a man who can see the devil uncovering the mysterious deaths surrounding five divine bodies in a different world where demons exist. Kim Tae Ri and Oh Jung Se will lead this drama.

Actor Lee Je Hoon, who was one of the lead actors in “Signal”, is currently starring in SBS’s drama “Taxi Driver 2”, which shows Rainbow Taxi Company and taxi driver Kim Do Ki (Lee Je Hoon) taking revenge on behalf of unfair victims.
