Current No.1 Drama on Netflix Korea TOP 10: Direction, Acting, and Script All on Point

This Netflix new original series starring Park Bo-young is gaining much attention

It’s ‘Daily Dose of Sunshine,’ led by Park Bo-young. Netflix released all episodes of ‘Daily Dose of Sunshine’ on November 3rd. This 12-episode series portrays various stories of nurse Daeun (Park Bo-young), who has recently started working in a psychiatric ward, as she encounters the world and the diverse emotions of the people within the psychiatric ward.

‘Daily Dose of Sunshine’ not only entered the top 10 of Netflix Korea series shortly after its release but also quickly rose to the No.1 spot. Thanks to the perfect trifecta of the script, direction, and acting by the “writer, director, and actor,” the drama is receiving much praise from viewers.

‘Daily Dose of Sunshine’ particularly skillfully portrays various mental illnesses, such as depression, anxiety disorders, and delusional disorders, which many people around us experience but may not fully understand unless they have experienced them themselves.

Daily Dose of Sunshine

‘Daily Dose of Sunshine’ has succeeded in raising awareness and understanding of various mental disorders and providing warm comfort and support to those who are suffering.

Daeun (Park Bo-young), a nurse who switched from internal medicine to psychiatry in her third year, passionately cares for her patients but also faces setbacks and makes mistakes. While experiencing the joys and sorrows with the patients, she begins to reflect on her own emotions.

Daeun’s realization that we all stand on the edge between dreams and reality, anxiety and stability, joy and sadness shines a light on the emotions she herself did not fully understand. She offers a prescription for the heart, suggesting that we can gradually find answers that suit us.

In the psychiatric ward, just like in the internal medicine ward, where patients often hide their illnesses and avoid them, there is Dr. Go-geun (Yeon Woo-jin), who works hard to empathize with the patients and do his best for them. Although he is inexperienced in the psychiatric ward, he believes in and supports Daeun more than anyone else.

When Daeun is uncertain about whether her judgment was the best choice for the patient, Dr. Go-geun boosts her confidence. His comforting words towards Daeun are not only a strong support but also a daily source of encouragement for all of us who face the continuous choices in our lives.

Daeun’s long-time friend, Yoo Chan (Jang Dong-yoon), provides a clear answer to Daeun’s perplexing question when she starts her new job. Yoo Chan graduated from a prestigious university and worked for a major corporation, but suddenly resigned and now works at his parents’ restaurant.

No one, including Daeun, knows why he quit the job that others envy. His advice, which stems from his own experiences, leaves a deep impression on us, defining true happiness with the line, “What’s so special about happiness? Being able to do what you like, that’s happiness.”

Hyo-shin (Lee Jung-eun), a psychiatric nurse, brings a glimmer of hope to despairing patients who wonder if they can get better. She is ready to spend the darkest hours of the night with the patients, believing that the darkest time is just before the morning comes. Through Hyo-shin, viewers gain the courage to overcome their pain and look forward to a bright, sunny morning filled with hope.

‘Daily Dose of Sunshine’ breaks down prejudices and preconceptions about mental illnesses and offers genuine comfort and support to those in pain, while warming our hearts with touching moments. The drama is exclusively available on Netflix.
